Glendalough
( Part 5 a )
Glendalough – a valley located in County Wicklow, Ireland. Renowned for an Early Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin. There are also: the Round Tower, St Kevin’s Church, St Kevin’s Cross and The Cathedral, and a Cemetery.
Glendalough Upper Lake is home to the cave that St. Kevin spent seven years.
Glendalough is also a recreational area for picnics, for walking in picturesque mountain areas, along with networks of maintained trails of varying difficulty, and also for rock-climbing.
