My Story

Vienna

( Part 21 )

The road to Vienna provided by Google Maps, is from about 8.5 hours to 11.5 hours. By default, in our case, this first number does not come into play 😛, so we arrived at the place before midnight. The road took us through Liechtenstein. It was my first time in this country. I can say I was there because we were forced to stop and refuel the car 😉. Then we passed Salzburg, which is surrounded by mountains. What a pleasure of driving, watching and admiring such views. As I have already mentioned, we arrived at the place before midnight, where the beds were already prepared for us. The children fell asleep very quickly, so we had a moment for some chat and also move towards the bed.

Prater 🎡

As you can imagine, the night was not very long. Kids were so excited that they came to visit their aunts that they woke up in the very early morning, so our sleep was over 😁. On the other hand, it was even better because it made our day longer, and we could go visit Prater with children. Due to the fact that our stay at the campsite was shortened, we decided that the amusement park 🎡 would be ideal for wiping children’s tears 😉. And we weren’t wrong 😁.

The children had a lot of fun, fell asleep much faster that evening, and we finally had time to catch up with my sister. It was a very nice evening. Whenever we can, we try to visit my sister. Whether we plan or not, we are always warmly welcomed, and this is beautiful 🥰.

Nice surprise

The next day we went to visit our other sister Renia, and it happened that her mother came for holidays at that time, so we had the opportunity to meet in a larger group. I love such family gatherings 😍, especially when we don’t see each other for a long time, because everyone lives in a different country. On the third day, we had to slowly get ready to leave. We went all together for a walk and spent the rest of the day enjoying our company because as it happens to us, you never know where and when we will meet again 😉.

The evening has come. We packed up and stuffed our belongings in the car. Since we had our ferry in two days, and the route was very long, as much as 16 hours from Vienna to the port of Cherbourg, we had to make one more stop. The next stop on the way back home was Luxembourg.

Night in the car 😴

Stop for refueling the car 🚙⛽

Luxembourg welcomes 🇱🇺

Remember Justine? She’s the one who also moved to Canada with her family. I mentioned them in the “Holiday” post. We went back to Ireland, and they moved to Luxembourg. They offered us accommodation at their place, and since we had camping equipment, there were no major problems with sleeping 😁. Through all that weather in Interlaken, we managed to visit sisters in Vienna and friends in Luxembourg. Every cloud has a silver lining 😁.

Luxembourg and its surprises

The route from Vienna to Luxembourg is approx. 11 hours. Good thing we drove at night, so we managed to fit within the time this time 😉. We got there in the morning. It was around 8 a.m. Of course, it was not without difficulties. Good that it’s happened already in Luxembourg, and not somewhere along the way. The problem was the internet. It didn’t work particularly well for us on this trip, and that’s why we had trouble finding their place of residence. Like I said, it was around 8 a.m. and I to be honest, there were no crowds on the streets. Somehow, in the alley in which we found ourselves, a man with a dog appeared to our eyes. Our hope returned, and in a moment was gone, as the same gentleman, unfortunately, did not know English, and we did not speak French, was unable to help us. After a while, another man came out of the gate in front of us. Our joy that someone lives here, after all, was immense. And even more so when it turned out that he speaks English 😃. He didn’t tell us which way to go, but he let us use his internet code, so we could call them and look up the route on Google Maps. Thanks to him, we soon found ourselves under their house. The welcome was very nice and on top, we had breakfast in pleasant company.

Such a delicious breakfast was waiting for us 😍

Relax with nature outside the window 🥰

After breakfast and a moment of rest, we went for a walk to straighten the bones after such a long journey in the car. Their estate bordered with a small forest, so perfect walk for us 🥰. Then we had dinner together and the rest of the day was spent talking and reminiscing. Dinner in the evening and time to sleep, because in the morning we had to pack up and move towards the port.

Overnight in Luxembourg 😁

The ferry and more surprises

We took our sleeping bags and air mattresses and spread out in the living room, wherever we could 😁. In the morning we packed again in the car and went on the road around 8 a.m. because it was almost 8 hours to the port. We stopped on the way to grab a bite to eat and headed straight to our destination. The ferry was leaving at 6 p.m., so we had to be there at 5 p.m. It was a bit stressful as we didn’t have much time, and you never know what could happen on the way. Fortunately, we arrived in time. The relief we felt when we got out of the car was indescribable. We immediately went to eat something and to sleep, because we were already a little tired of this trip, which we actually spent half in the car. Unfortunately, as usual, something had to happen at the end. It would be boring, right? Let me tell you. Well, this time, it was a little rough, and everybody got sick. Two of our children felt terrible, which caused 🤮🤮. And the worst part was that it all happened in the restaurant. Fortunately, there were only a few people at the time. We sat at the very end of the restaurant as if we knew that something was going to happen, and we should stay away from everyone 😉, for their sake and our own well-being 😜. After such attractions, we went to the cabin to lie down as soon as possible, and sleep off this bad feeling. We had a lot of time, because the ferry was supposed to arrive at 11: 30 a.m. the next day. And now I say goodbye and until the next day 😉.
